Ten years at the drum

COFFEE IS A PLACE FIRST.

Bagira is a Hungarian specialty roastery. We buy small lots, roast them by hand in Nagytarcsa, and put a different illustrated landscape on every origin — because a coffee is somewhere before it is a flavour.

How it started

EGY BARISTA,
EGY DOB

Ádám Török started Bagira in 2015 — barista, Hungarian latte art champion, and someone who cannot stop taking coffee apart to understand how it works.

What started with one roaster and a handful of café partners is now a roastery in Nagytarcsa, a webshop, our own bar on Dob utca and a programme of events. What has not changed: the batch size.

From cherry to bag

HOW WE WORK

01

Sourcing

We buy small lots through importers we have worked with for years, and we buy them for how they taste on the cupping table.

02

Roasting

Every lot gets its own profile, written on the drum and re-tasted each time a new sack is opened.

03

Packing

Bags are filled to order and dated the day they came off the drum.

Why the animals

EVERY ORIGIN
GETS A LANDSCAPE

Bagira is Bagheera — the black panther. So instead of a flavour wheel and a lot number, every origin carries an illustration of the place it came from.

It is the fastest way we know to say the true thing about coffee: that it is agriculture, from a specific place, made by specific people.
